Hello, my name is Steve. Thank you for visiting my campaign page!
As a member of the Somerset School Board, I vow to be your voice for parents’ rights, stand for the protection of our children, and propose innovative solutions to achieve academic excellence.
Parents need a voice when it comes to the education of our children. We do not relinquish our beliefs and values when our children enter the classroom. We all pay a lot of taxes, and our children deserve a first-class education.
With your support, we can create a school district that becomes a leader in Wisconsin and offers a premier education for our children to become well-rounded, successful, productive members of society. Further, I am committed to finding innovative non-tax revenue solutions to make our schools more competitive. When our schools are more attractive to parents, enrollment will rise.
I look forward to meeting you and hope to earn your support in my pursuit of a position on the Somerset School Board!
VOTE for Steve in the Primary Election on FEBRUARY 20th!
COMMUNICATION
- Prompt communication with families has been lacking, and we need to do better. We need to send out regular emails on all critical issues impacting families. Parents should not only receive critical information from word of mouth or social media.
PROTECTING FEMALE SPACES
- Our female students and athletes should never have to share their locker room or restroom with biological males. This is non-negotiable, and I will fight boldly against any measures to introduce policies allowing such.
SCHOOL SECURITY
- Nationally, school shootings have reached yet another unprecedented high in 2023, outpacing the previous year’s record for the third year in a row. This is a time when our schools should be increasing our security protocols and budgets. Even with budget constraints, I am committed to making school security a priority again.
- We should increase the police presence on campus which will provide critical protection to our students, as well as promote a healthy respect and camaraderie for law enforcement with our student body.
- We should form an ongoing school security committee made up of staff, parents, and law enforcement. We should implement routine unannounced security audits and promptly correct security lapses.
PROTECTING THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE
- The student experience should be free from political agendas and indoctrination of any kind. Parents should be welcome to voice their opposition against content or instruction that does not align with their family value system or faith, without fear of retaliation. Our schools should be focused on increasing student outcomes in reading and math and preparing our students to be able to function effectively as independent adults. Further, the district should be offering fully transparent and complete curriculum plans for all grade levels within Infinite Campus.
STUDENT PROGRAMMING
- Students need their educational needs met at all levels. Currently, we must prioritize and bring back the Gifted & Talented Program. We can do this by looking at other funding sources, grants, and reallocating resources from other areas. the way.
- We need to partner more closely with regional businesses to provide additional opportunities to our students. This could include more student-run business opportunities, corporate partnerships, internships, and direct pathways to employment after graduation.
